MAIN DUTIES:
As the Floor Manager – Restaurant, you will work effectively as part of the Restaurant’s service team, primarily responsible for the total operation of restaurant, including building sales and all other aspects of profit and loss, hiring/training of the front of house team, daily execution of safety/sanitation, quality food preparation and guest service.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Monitor flow of service, reservations and special requests for all guests. Interact with every table during meal periods, including promptly addressing guest concerns, and handling escalated guest issues with professionalism.
- Responsible for interviewing of restaurant and bar/lounge staff within 1 Hotel established policies, including personnel requisitions, screening of applicants, interviews, etc.
- Provide maximum efficiency and service at a minimum cost. Keep payroll costs within the pre-determined budget.
- Manage any disciplinary problems within the restaurant and bar/lounge, using the 1 Hotel Toronto Disciplinary Action Form with the established procedures and policies; i.e. coaching & counselling, verbal warnings, written warnings.
- Complete Time & Attendance approvals and timely and submit to the General Manager for approval, if required.
- Attend weekly Food & Beverage meeting and other meetings as required.
- Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry and report deadlines, employee may be required to work varying schedules to meet the business needs of the hotel and report deadlines. This may include weekends and holidays.
- Ensure maintenance of equipment by calling for repairs and training staff on proper use.
- Conduct competitive research and report trends and recommendations.
- Support the entire Food & Beverage operation including supervising other areas if necessary, handling public relations and marketing.
- Provide clean and safe environment by assigning and assisting with cleaning.
- Supervise the front of house staff in their job duties as necessary due to outlet volume.
- Assist with recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance reviews as required.
- Develop a good time spirit and high level of moral among restaurant staff.
- Encourage upselling and implementing special promotions while working towards achieving and surpassing revenue targets.
- Manage inventory costs to reduce waste.
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures, and standards with self and colleagues.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, college degree preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years full-service restaurant experience as well as strong leadership & organizational management skills.
- Prior experience in a quality luxury hotel brand is an asset.
- Record of maintaining high standards in restaurant cleanliness, sanitation, food quality, and guest satisfaction
- Passion for the business and compassion for people.
- Highly energetic, self-motivated, goal oriented and dependable.
- Professional & appropriate business appearance and demeanor aligned with the 1 Hotel brand and culture.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and outstanding leadership, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Must have extensive hands-on food and beverage knowledge and experience including multiple outlets with P&L responsibilities.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and delegate work assignments.
- Ability to direct performance of staff, motivate, maintain a cohesive team and follow up with corrections where needed.
- Ability to ascertain staff training needs and provide such training.
- Must be able to effectively listen, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests in the proper manner.
- Basic business math and accounting skills, and strong analytical/decision-making skills.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including opening, closing, weekends and holidays.
