Job summary

Air Inuit is seeking a Flight Dispatcher to support safe and efficient flight operations. You will prepare flight plans, analyze weather and operational conditions, and provide guidance to flight crews in compliance with Transport Canada regulations. You will monitor flight progress and advise the Captain of significant weather changes.

The role requires a postsecondary diploma, bilingualism, and knowledge of relevant regulations, plus flexibility for varied schedules and shifts.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Flight Dispatcher supports the safe and efficient operation of flights by preparing flight plans, analyzing weather and operational conditions, calculating fuel requirements, monitoring flight progress, and providing operational guidance to flight crews. Working in compliance with Transport Canada regulations and company procedures, the Dispatcher plays a key role in maintaining safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

THE ROLE IN DEPTH

• Participate in the company safety management system.
• Analyze and evaluate weather information and select the most appropriate routes.
• Calculate required fuel for safe and efficient flight operation, considering aircraft type, flight duration, limitations, maintenance, weather conditions, and minimum fuel required by Canadian Aviation regulations.
• Prepare flight plans containing: weight for takeoff and landing, weather reports, runway conditions, NOTAMs, and any other information necessary for a safe flight.
• Monitor weather, aircraft position reports, and air navigation maps to assess the progress of the flight.
• Advise the Captain of any significant change in the weather, provide alternative flight plans for course changes, and if required, for an emergency landing.
• Support the team and department according to operational needs.

WHAT SETS YOU APART

• Possess a postsecondary school diploma.
• Bilingual (French and English).
• Knowledge of the regulations and/or relevant experience.
• Possess a valid radio license (an asset).
• Basic knowledge of office software (Word, Excel, etc.).
• Flexibility to work on various schedules.
• Successfully completed both Transport Canada examinations (FDOPS and FDMET).

COMPENSATION

• Salary and benefits are determined according to company policy.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work Schedule: 7 ON / 7 OFF rotation, working 06:00 to 18:00 from Tuesday to Monday. Following an initial 3-to-4-month period, the position will transition to a night shift schedule (18:00 to 06:00).
