Job summary

Smurfit WestRock plc in Mississauga is seeking a Flexo Helper Starter to join the Press/Printing team on the night shift. You will assist with daily operations of the printing press and help ensure schedules are met.

The role requires at least one year in manufacturing, familiarity with Radius and MS Office is a plus, and you must be able to stand on a concrete floor, lift up to 40 pounds, and work overtime when needed. Shift premiums apply to afternoon and night shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Experience with Radius and Microsoft Office is an asset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to stand/walk 100% of shift on concrete floor and lift 40 pounds.
• Must read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions and procedures.
• Good attendance and willingness to work overtime; shift premiums apply.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and comply with safety policies.
• Obtain and understand production docket according to print schedule.
• Ensure all supplies are available at the press – ink, plates, stock, etc.
• Assist Pressman in mounting plates, sleeves, anilox rolls, and die if applicable.
• Comply with SOPs and quality procedures.
• Clean ink chambers.
• Change anilox blades.
• Top up ink chambers with fresh ink.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Smurfit Westrock Mississauga facility is looking for a Flexo Helper Starter to work with the Press/Printing team on the night shift. This position is r esponsible for assisting with the daily operations of the printing press.

How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and comply with all safety policies.
• Obtain and understand production docket according to print schedule.
• Ensure all appropriate supplies are at the press – ink, plates, stock, etc.
• Assist Pressman in the mounting of plates, sleeves, anilox rolls, die if applicable.
• Comply with all SOP’s and Quality Procedures.
• Cleaning of ink chambers.
• Changing anilox blades.
• Topping up ink chambers with fresh ink.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

• Minimum of 1 year experience working in a manufacturing or production industry
• Experience working with Radius and Microsoft Office (ie. Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) considered an asset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to stand and walk 100% of shift on a concrete floor and ability to lift 40 pounds.
• Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
• Must be able to maintain good attendance.
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.
• Shift premiums apply to afternoon and night shifts.

The hourly rate for this position is $26.72.
