Avonim Recruitment & HR Consulting is seeking a Staff Accountant for a flexible, hybrid role in Canada. You’ll work with a diverse client base across technology, energy, wellness, and professional services, using modern accounting tools and AI-enabled workflows to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

2+ years of public accounting experience is preferred, with a North American bachelor's degree. The position offers CPA training access, tax-season bonuses, and career progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of public accounting experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from a North American university or college.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for multiple clients
• Record and categorize transactions using QuickBooks Online and other accounting software
• Complete bank, credit card, loan, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Manage and review AP and AR records
• Assist with payroll entries and reconciliations
• Prepare GST/HST bookkeeping records and supporting documentation
• Prepare month-end and year-end files, schedules, and supporting documentation
• Identify discrepancies and follow up with clients to resolve outstanding items
• Communicate directly with clients to obtain missing information
• Support bookkeeping clean-up and catch-up engagements
• Leverage technology and AI tools to improve efficiency and accuracy
