Description

Reporting to the Regional Fleet Manager, the Fleet Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day maintenance activities of a fleet of over 300 vehicles, managing a team of 8–12 skilled technicians. The Fleet Operations Manager provides strategic and hands-on support to the Regional Fleet Manager in scheduling vehicle maintenance, parts acquisition, warranty coverage, and vendor management across multiple garages.

The Fleet Operations Manager will be key in maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, performance, minimizing vehicle downtime, and driving continuous improvement within the fleet management team.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily maintenance activities across multiple garages, ensuring timely and effective vehicle repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Lead and support a team of Fleet technicians, including performance management, workload distribution, and on-site engagement through regular garage visits.
  • Oversee procurement and management of spare parts and supplies, ensuring adequate inventory levels to minimize downtime.
  • Manage warranty-related claims, ensuring credits, dollars, and rebates from vendors are captured.
  • Coordinate, evaluate, and select third-party vendors supporting vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Manage the garage budget, including labor, parts, and supplies, to ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, vehicle repairs, and regulatory compliance.
  • Act as the point of contact for District Managers, Unit Managers, drivers, and other stakeholders to address vehicle concerns, provide updates, and facilitate communication.
  • Analyze maintenance costs, vehicle performance, and other metrics to identify trends and improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Travel regularly to garage locations to engage with teams and perform site assessments (visiting each garage once per month).
Qualifications & Requirements
  • College diploma or equivalent education and training.
  • 3-5 years of experience in fleet, garage, automotive, or branch operations.
  • Proven experience in vendor management, customer service, and warranty processes.
  • Experience leading a service or maintenance team, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • 3+ years of experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Understanding of continuous improvement methods, including 5S.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage operational and administrative priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and produce routine reports.
