Job summary

The Government of Nova Scotia, Department of Public Works, invites applications for a Year-Round Mechanic II (Truck and Transport) at the New Minas mechanical branch. The role requires a Red Seal in Truck & Transport, five years of diversified mechanical experience, and a valid Class 5 license.

You will diagnose, repair and maintain government fleet equipment and support winter and summer operations. We offer PPE, training and benefits; this is a CUPE bargaining unit position with opportunities

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus Inter-Provincial Red Seal in Truck & Transport.
• Minimum of five (5) years of diversified mechanical experience.
• A valid Class 5 driver’s license is required; Air Brake Endorsement is an asset.
• Probationary period includes Nova Scotia MVI training.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose equipment failure and perform repairs, rebuilds, and adjustments on government mobile machinery and equipment.
• Assist with field repairs and preventive maintenance as required.
• Work with fleet services to ensure equipment reliability for summer and winter operations.
