Job summary

Region of Peel’s TransHelp program in Mississauga is seeking a Mechanic to perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on fleet vehicles under supervision. You will diagnose, repair air suspension, hydraulics, air brakes, propane systems, and related components; manage parts stock; ensure safety; work Monday to Friday 7am-3pm; onsite at 3190 Mavis Road.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of work related experience.
Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent.
Verbal and written communication skills; working knowledge of computers.
Must hold current Ontario 310T and 310S licenses.
Ontario Vehicle Operator’s Permit Class “G” in good standing.
CVOR training/Registrations is required.
Experience with fleet maintenance on light and heavy vehicles.
Able to operate diagnostic equipment and electronic test tools.

Responsibilities

Plan and schedule duties according to priorities.
Diagnose and repair vehicles and equipment (air suspension, hydraulics, air brakes, propane systems).
Maintain stock of replacement parts and keep the stock area tidy.
Ensure tools and equipment are accounted for.
Complete forms and input data into Fleet Management System.
Instruct and direct helpers as needed to perform repairs.
Provide courteous service to the public and uphold a positive image of the Region.
Investigate faults and communicate problems to the supervisor.
