GFL is seeking a Fleet Manager to oversee maintenance operations, manage fleet performance, and ensure our modern fleet aligns with reliability and safety standards. You will supervise a maintenance team, coordinate preventive maintenance, and drive cost-efficient decisions across the location.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in operations management.
• Current mechanic’s license and valid driver’s license.
• Experience with fleet maintenance and budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance team at the location.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedules and inspections.
• Analyze fleet performance and recommend improvements.
• Oversee subcontractor repairs and payments with District Manager.
• Develop and administer maintenance budget.

Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Team Supervision: Supervise and direct the members of the maintenance team within the location, setting goals, targets, and managing accordingly.
• Preventive Maintenance: Follow the schedule of preventive maintenance and annual inspections.
• Fleet Analysis: Analyze the fleet and make suggestions for improvements or purchases.
• Subcontractor & Repair Oversight: Assume responsibility for the approval and payment of any repairs on the company’s equipment that must be performed by subcontractors while keeping in contact with the District Manager.
• Budgeting & Operations: Work with Operations in the development and administration of the budget for maintenance and replacement of the equipment.
• Compliance & Regulations: Responsible for keeping equipment in compliance with company policies and regulations.
• Health & Safety: Ensure the health and safety of employees.
• Reporting: Complete weekly reports.
• Cost Management: Establish various management tools to improve cost management.
• Staff Training: Ensure the training of the staff.
• Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

• Education & Experience: Post-secondary education, bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Licensing: Current Mechanic’s license and valid Driver’s License.
• Software Knowledge: Knowledge of Microsoft software along with Trux, Ariett, GP and M5, or Dossier.
• Communication & Organization: Excellent communication skills, management priorities, and good organizational skills.
• Financial Acumen: Knowledge of financial statements and general understanding of the department’s contributions to monthly financial statements.
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to deal with all levels of management; tactfully dispenses direct and actionable feedback and is open and direct with others.
• Work Ethic: Ability to work under pressure.
• Designation: Maintenance Management Professional designation is considered an asset.
