Job summary

Clean Harbors in Corunna or Breslau, Ontario is hiring a Fleet Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations and ensure health and safety of technicians, planners and inventory coordinators. The role reports to the Regional Maintenance Manager and requires budgeting, scheduling, training and strong safety compliance.

You will work with Branch Managers to implement maintenance strategies, plan preventive maintenance, and manage travel up to 50%, while nurturing customer relationships and

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in maintenance/operations with fleet or related field.
  • Heavy Duty Fleet experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years in leadership and personnel development.
  • Ability to translate data into actionable items and strategic plans.
  • Strong negotiation and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure health and safety is the top priority by following all policies and processes.
  • Manage maintenance hub/spoke sites according to budget and regional plan.
  • Ensure compliance with HR, safety, health and environmental policies and regulations.
  • Meet region KPIs; provide performance management for direct reports.
  • Approve major repairs and coordinate with internal customers to sustain service levels.
  • Foster relationships with health, safety, compliance, fleet ops, and sales teams.
  • Lead projects to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure all personnel are trained, equipped and motivated; maintain tools and equipment.

Job description

Clean Harbors is looking to hire a Fleet Maintenance Manager to join their team in Corunna or Breslau, Ontario. The Fleet Maintenance manager reports to the Regional Maintenance Manager. This leadership role is responsible for the Health, Safety, and Welfare of Technicians, Planners, and Inventory Coordinators. This qualified applicant will be responsible for budgeting, scheduling, training, safety compliance, and customer relationships. The Fleet Maintenance Manager works closely with Branch Managers to support business needs and to implement company-wide maintenance strategies including preventative maintenance schedules, campaigns, recalls, diagnostics, and equipment specification. This role requires up to 50% travel.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes.
  • Manage all aspects of the maintenance hub and spoke sites in accordance with the region's business plan and budget.
  • Comply with all human resources (personnel, safety, health and environmental) policies, procedures, laws and regulations, including SOPs, personnel manual, OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
  • Meet region goals, expectations and KPIs for area of responsibility. Provide performance management using the KPIs and goals for direct reports.
  • Provide guidance and approval of major repairs on company assets in accordance with approval guidelines and escalation processes.
  • Develop working relationships with internal customers to maintain and increase services, as well as managing the asset life cycle. Work closely with Area Managers and Branch Managers to support business needs and to implement companywide maintenance strategy.
  • Communicate regularly with all business owners to ensure business needs are met.
  • Develop relationships with health & safety, transportation compliance, human resources, fleet operations, and sales personnel to promote compliance to business practices.
  • Initiate and carry out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
  • Ensure that all personnel are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated in a positive manner.
  • Ensure all tools, equipment, and machinery are maintained
  • Communicate clear expectations and foster a collaborative climate with peers and teams.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of operations background in maintenance and repair, transportation or related field.
  • Pref. with individuals that have Heavy Duty Fleet experience.
  • 3-5 years of leadership and personnel development experience.
  • Ability to create actionable items out of data and information.
  • Strategic planning, coupled with tactical execution.
  • Ability to work across business lines.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Proven success record in safety, employee retention and cost savings.
  • Working (user) knowledge of Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Drives to achieve results and goals in the short and long term/ takes action in a fast-paced environment to complete tasks on time at high quality.
