Job summary

Backwoods Energy Services in Alberta is actively seeking reliable flaggers to direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic on active construction sites. You will set up and maintain traffic control equipment, ensuring a safe work zone for crews and the public.

Split shifts are 04:00-08:00 and 15:00-19:00, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend shifts. The position emphasizes safety, consistency, and clear communication on busy sites in varied weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • Flaggers direct traffic and pedestrian movement on active construction sites.
  • Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control equipment and signage.

  • Set up, maintain, and remove cones, barricades, delineators as required.
  • Communicate clearly using verbal instructions, radios, and hand signals.
  • Work safely in all weather conditions and high-traffic environments.

Our business consists of five operating divisions: Civil Works and Clearing, Environmental Services, Pipeline and Integrity Maintenance, Matting Supply and Installation and Security Services. We are seeking reliable and safety-focused Flaggers to support traffic control operations on active construction sites.

Position Overview

Flaggers are responsible for directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic, setting up and maintaining traffic control equipment, and ensuring a safe work zone for crews and the public.

Schedule
  • Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend shifts
  • Split shifts: 04:00-08:00 and 15:00-19:00
Wage

This position will pay between $21-22/hr to start.

Key Duties
  • Direct traffic using stop/slow paddles, hand signals, radios, and signage.

Requirements
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods.
