Job summary

Planet Fitness in Edmonton is seeking a friendly Fitness Trainer to deliver first-rate service and motivate members toward health goals. You will assess fitness needs, design safe programs, and monitor progress while upholding safety standards.

Applicants should be 18+, hold a high school diploma (associates preferred), and have retail customer service experience or fitness background. CPR/AED preferred; certification support is provided if needed. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years old and a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Associates degree preferred.
• CPR/AED Certification preferred.
• Six months face-to-face customer service in retail or 1-year fitness experience preferred.
• Certification is required to assist and coach members; group course provided if not currently certified.

Responsibilities

• Observe participants and inform them of corrective measures necessary for skill improvement.
• Instruct participants in maintaining exertion levels to maximize benefits from exercise routines.
• Teach proper breathing techniques used during physical exertion.
• Evaluate individuals' abilities, needs, and physical conditions, and develop suitable training programs to meet any special requirements.
• Monitor participants' progress and adapt programs as needed.
• Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations governing sports, recreational activities, and the use of exercise equipment.
• Administer emergency first aid, wrap injuries, treat minor chronic disabilities, or refer injured persons to physicians.
