Job Summary:
The Fitness Instructor is responsible for leading fitness classes for senior clients under the supervision of the Program Supervisor and/or Registered Kinesiologist, ensuring adherence to certification standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead fitness classes.
- Assist clients in achieving goals outlined during assessments.
- Participate in ongoing review and evaluation of service delivery.
- Attend relevant educational in-services as directed by Supervisor.
- Provide fall prevention education if instructed by Supervisor/Regulated Professional.
- Report any inappropriate situations to Supervisor.
- Ensure timely reporting of incidents in accordance with legislation and organizational policies.
- Report equipment defects that may pose safety risks.
- Comply with OHS legislation, regulations, and organizational policies.
External and Internal Relationships:
- Regular interaction with Supervisor and clients.
Education, Designations, and Experience:
- High school diploma.
- CCAA Certification as a Seniors Fitness Instructor and/or equivalent is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience teaching group fitness classes for older adults, including specialized classes for chronic conditions such as osteoporosis, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, osteoarthritis, etc., is advantageous.
- Experience in promoting health and well-being through physical activity.
- Experience working in assisted living or recreation therapy settings is a plus.
- Bilingual in French and English is an asset.

Other Requirements:

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
Attention to detail; ability to lift, carry, bend, push, pull, reach, kneel, crouch using proper body mechanics; walk, sit, stand, climb stairs; manual dexterity.
