Job description

REPORTS TO: Recreation Coordinator
LOCATION: Various locations throughout the County

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current certification in group fitness instruction (e.g., CanFitPro, YMCA, ACE, or equivalent).
  • Current Standard First Aid /CPR & AED certification.
  • Experience delivering fitness programs in a community or recreational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to motivate and engage diverse participants.
  • Ability to work independently and manage class flow efficiently.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license and acceptable driver’s abstract
Assets: Any or all of the following:
  • Member of Parks and Recreation Ontario
  • Certification in specialty areas (e.g., Older Adult Fitness, Aquafit, HIIT, Yoga, Pilates, etc.) is considered an asset.
Duties:
  • Plan and lead fitness classes including (but not limited to): Cardio, Strength Training, Yoga, Zumba, Aqua Fitness, Seniors’ Fitness, and other group exercise formats.
  • Ensure all fitness programs are safe, age-appropriate, and tailored to the participants’ skill levels and needs.
  • Foster a positive, welcoming environment that supports participant engagement and retention.
  • Provide modifications and progressions as needed to accommodate various ability levels.
  • Conduct pre-class checks of facilities and equipment to ensure a safe workout environment.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and report any incidents or concerns to direct supervisor
  • Promote recreation programs and encourage healthy, active living in the community.
  • Follow all County of Brant policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including day, evening and weekend shifts.
  • Other duties as assigned
Hourly Rate: $28.61
