Job summary

Kawartha Lakes is seeking a part-time Fitness Instructor to deliver a range of fitness classes at the Lindsay Recreation Complex within City of Kawartha Lakes, ON. The role requires up to 24 hours per week, including days, evenings and weekends, with supervision by the Supervisor, Lindsay Recreation Complex.

Applicants must hold Can-Fit-Pro FIS or equivalent, have CPR/First Aid, and bring strong customer-service and leadership skills to a recreation-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold Can-Fit-Pro FIS or equivalent.
• Experience instructing varied fitness styles (step, hi/low, muscle conditioning, stretch).
• Previous recreation/fitness environment experience required.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR is required.
• Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Conditional offer requires a Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Search.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, internet and related software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and conduct fitness classes.
• Set up/take down equipment for classes.
• Maintain accurate attendance records.
• Complete pertinent forms and attend staff meetings.
• Promote division health and wellness programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

• Prepare and conduct fitness classes
• Set up/take down of equipment as required to conduct classes
• Maintain accurate attendance records
• Complete pertinent forms
• Attend staff meetings

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills/Education Required:

• Minimum Can-Fit-Pro FIS current certification or equivalent
• Experience instructing a variety of “styles” of fitness classes (step, hi/low, muscle conditioning, stretch/relaxation, cycle etc.)
• Previous experience in recreation and/or fitness environment
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR
• Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal and leadership skills
• For skills specific trainers, specific certifications are required
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, the internet and other related software
• Upon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, will be required
