Job summary

Makivvik is seeking a Director of Business Development to lead the fisheries portfolio, manage royalties and quota allocations, and drive growth with government and industry partners. The role covers Nunavik and Montreal, with travel as needed, and reports to the Director of Business Development.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in business management and 3+ years in fisheries, strong multilingual communication, and familiarity with CSR and North‑level regulatory frameworks.

Qualifications

• DEC in Management or Business; completed university education in Business Administration.
• Fisheries-related education is an asset.
• Minimum 5 years direct experience in Business Management and 3+ years in fisheries or related experience.
• Effective communication in at least two of Inuktitut, English, French.

Responsibilities

• Oversee fisheries file and annual royalties disbursed to Makivik and quota allocations.
• Supervise the In-Shore Marine Development Manager and collaborate on fisheries development in Nunavik and beyond.
• Collaborate with Makivik staff and subsidiaries on fisheries industry knowledge and trends.
• Maintain a strong relationship with our fishing partner and liaise with government and partners.
• Attend meetings and trade shows to promote Nunavik fisheries products; stay updated on northern fisheries research.
