Job summary

AMD is seeking a Firmware Engineering intern/co-op in Vancouver, BC. You will contribute to firmware development for AMD's discrete and embedded products, crafting, debugging and validating features on reference hardware and pre-silicon environments.

Ideal candidates are Canada-based university students in EE/CS/CE with C/C++, Linux, and HDL familiarity. Hybrid or onsite, full-time 37.5 hrs/week for multiple term durations in 2027.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Canada-based university pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • Knowledge of C/C++ and hardware architectures is required.
  • Experience with firmware, BIOS or system software development is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Linux development environments and version control tools.

Responsibilities

  • Craft, implement, debug, and validate firmware features on reference hardware and emulation environments.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and project planning.
  • Build clear documentation for all software produced.
  • Work on internal and external platforms and apply AGILE methodologies.
  • Involve in x86 firmware development using C and Embedded Firmware + Bootrom/HW.
  • Debug firmware/hardware issues at waveform level.
