Job summary

AMD in Vancouver, BC is seeking a Firmware Engineering intern/co-op for 12 or 16 months. You will contribute to firmware for discrete and embedded products, working with reference hardware, emulation, and test environments.

You'll learn AGILE processes, participate in design and code reviews, and document software you produce while collaborating across teams. This role is hybrid/onsite in Canada, targeting students in Electrical Eng/CS/CE programs.

Qualifications

• Experience with low-level BIOS, firmware, or system software development.
• Strong C/C++ knowledge and understanding of hardware architectures.
• Experience with embedded systems, RTOS, and embedded controllers.
• Familiarity with source control and debugging from software to hardware.
• Knowledge of Open source concepts and hardware design basics.
• Experience with Linux development environments.

Responsibilities

• We will craft, implement, debug, and validate firmware for AMD's products on reference hardware.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and project planning.
• Create clear documentation for software produced.
• Work on internal and external platforms; learn AGILE methods.
• Involve in x86 firmware development using C and embedded firmware design.
