Job summary

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) invites energetic Electrical/Computer Engineering students to join our firmware engineering internship in Markham, Ontario. You will craft, implement, debug, and validate firmware for discrete and embedded AMD products on reference hardware and emulation environments.

You’ll participate in design and code reviews, document your work, and collaborate across teams while learning AGILE practices and working on FW/HW boundary challenges with waveform analysis support.

Qualifications

• Low-level BIOS, firmware, or system software development.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and hardware architectures.
• Embedded systems, RTOS, and embedded controller experience.
• Source control and debugging across software, firmware, and hardware.
• Open source concepts and hardware design basics (VHDL/Verilog/FPGA).
• Linux development environments familiarity.
• Knowledge of graphics/compute pipelines.
• Experience with Perforce, JIRA, or Git.

Responsibilities

• Engage in firmware development for AMD's reference hardware and pre-silicon environments.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and project planning.
• Build clear documentation for all software produced.
• Work on internal and external platforms.
• Learn and apply AGILE methodologies in Software Engineering.
• Involvement in FW/HW boundary debugging, waveform analysis to root cause issues.
