D&L Engineering – An Everguard Company is seeking a skilled Fire Suppression Systems Installer in Halifax, NS. You will install, inspect, test, and service suppression systems on vehicles, marine vessels, and heavy equipment, reading drawings and manufacturer docs for accurate setups.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience installing or servicing fire suppression, hydraulic, pneumatic, marine, or related equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with basic electrical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manufacturer specifications.
  • Commitment to safety, quality and customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, test, and maintain fire suppression systems on vehicles and marine equipment.
  • Read drawings, schematics, hydraulic layouts, and manufacturer documentation.
  • Mount cylinders, nozzles, pumps, control panels, and tubing; route and secure components.
  • Perform commissioning, testing, calibration, and functional checks.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues; keep records.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and organized work area; follow safety procedures.

What You'll Do

As a Fire Suppression Systems Installer, you'll be responsible for installing, inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire suppression systems on vehicles, mobile equipment, and marine vessels, including tugboats and workboats.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Installing fire suppression systems on vehicles, heavy equipment, and marine vessels
  • Reading and interpreting installation drawings, schematics, hydraulic layouts, vessel plans, and manufacturer documentation
  • Installing and mounting cylinders, nozzles, detection tubing, pumps, reservoirs, injectors, discharge lines, actuation devices, and control panels
  • Routing and securing tubing, hoses, wiring, and system components to perform reliably in demanding environments
  • Performing commissioning, testing, calibration, and functional checks
  • Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical system issues
  • Conducting routine inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Completing service reports, inspection records, and installation documentation accurately
  • Working closely with customers, supervisors, and team members to ensure successful project completion
  • Maintaining tools, equipment, service vehicles, and an organized work area
  • Following all workplace, marine, environmental, and safety procedures

  • Technical training in fire suppression systems, marine systems, automated lubrication systems, or a mechanical trade
  • Fire suppression certifications and related industry training
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current Certificate of Conduct and Driver's Abstract.
