Job summary

D&L Engineering – An Everguard Company in Antigonish, NS is seeking a Field Services Technician to install, service, and maintain commercial fire suppression systems. You’ll work hands-on in a safety‑minded team across commercial, industrial, and marine environments.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of field experience in fire suppression, mechanical, HVAC or related trades.
  • Strong safety mindset and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Professionalism and customer-service orientation.
  • Knowledge of NFPA standards and fire codes preferred.
  • Fire service certifications or suppression training considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, test, service, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial kitchen fire suppression systems and related components.
  • Install and commission new systems, including agent cylinders/tanks, piping, nozzles, detection lines, fusible links, and mechanical release mechanisms.
  • Perform system testing and verify proper activation, shutdowns, and gas/electrical interlocks.
  • Diagnose system deficiencies and complete required repairs, component replacements, upgrades, and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable NFPA standards, fire codes, manufacturer requirements, safety regulations, and company quality standards.
  • Complete accurate and professional service reports, inspection records, work orders, and compliance documentation.
  • Communicate inspection findings, deficiencies, repairs, and recommendations clearly and professionally to customers.
  • Assist with quoting, estimating, and identifying service, repair, replacement, and small-project opportunities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment and follow all company and job-site safety procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and travel to customer sites as required.
  • This role combines hands‑on technical work, problem‑solving, customer interaction, and opportunities to take ownership of projects.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be the technician for commercial fire suppression systems. Responsibilities include:

What You Bring
  • Minimum 2+ years of field experience in fire suppression, mechanical, HVAC or related trades
  • Mechanically inclined and comfortable with basic electrical systems

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, travel, and on‑call assignments
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of NFPA standards and fire codes preferred
  • Fire service certifications or suppression training considered an asset
