Job summary

North Grenville is seeking a Fire Prevention and Protection Officer to support fire prevention, public education, and protection programs as defined by applicable acts. The role involves inspections, program delivery, education, and emergency response under the Deputy Chief’s direction.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years in a fire service or equivalent.
• Experience with fire safety inspections and public fire and life safety education.
• Demonstrate a high level of competency as a first responder in emergency operations.
• Knowledge of Fire Protection & Prevention Act, Ontario Fire Code, and related legislation.
• Strong organizational and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fire and life safety inspections and enforce codes and bylaws.
• Review Fire Safety Plans and provide recommendations for approval.
• Participate in fire investigations and prepare reports for court proceedings as required.
• Coordinate and deliver fire prevention, public education, and community outreach programs.
• Respond to emergency incidents as a certified firefighter and maintain professional competence.
