The Fire Management Geomatics Analyst is the senior technical specialist responsible for providing advanced geomatics and spatial analysis expertise in support of the Northwest Territories wildfire and forest management programs. Based in Fort Smith and reporting to the Manager of Fire Operations, the position develops and manages geographic information, remote sensing products, spatial databases, and analytical tools that support wildfire operations, forest management, planning, research, and decision-making across the territory.
The Analyst leads the collection, integration, analysis, and management of spatial data, ensuring data quality, integrity, security, and compliance with established standards. Working closely with regional staff, GIS professionals, government partners, and contractors, the position provides technical guidance, mentorship, and operational support while developing innovative geospatial solutions to address complex land and resource management challenges.
This role is critical to ensuring timely, accurate, and reliable information is available to support wildfire response, risk mitigation, environmental monitoring, and the protection of communities, infrastructure, and natural resources throughout the Northwest Territories.
