Job summary

The Fire Management Geomatics Analyst is the senior technical specialist responsible for providing advanced geomatics and spatial analysis expertise in support of the Northwest Territories wildfire and forest management programs.

Based in Fort Smith and reporting to the Manager of Fire Operations, the position develops and manages geographic information, remote sensing products, spatial databases, and analytical tools that support wildfire operations, forest management, planning, research, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in geography or natural resources management or related field.
• Certificate or diploma in GIS OR prove equivalence through core GIS curriculum in degree program.
• Three years of related and current experience at analyst level within last four years.
• Ability to obtain a valid passport and Class 5 Drivers License.

Responsibilities

• Plans and manages fire management GIS data needs, including vector and raster data.
• Leads technical projects for advanced spatial analysis and presentation integrating diverse data sources.
• Supports fire management planning activities.
• Provides expert geomatics advice and support at the regional level.
• Collaborates with Informatics and GNWT Centre for Geomatics to identify issues and develop geomatics solutions.
• Provides work planning support for GIS projects.
