Job summary

Johnson Controls in Canada is seeking Entry Level Inspectors to support routine inspections and maintenance of electrical and life safety product lines. You will assist with testing, service, and documentation while following structured inspection schedules.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma, be able to pass background checks, and be available for night shifts. The role involves working with low voltage systems, hand tools, and basic diagnostic tasks, with potential for skill

Qualifications

  • Able to pass criminal background and valid Class 5 driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting routine inspections, testing, service and preventative maintenance on electrical and life safety product lines.
  • Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices for operation of low voltage equipment.
  • Complete service acknowledgements with proper coding via laptop or hard copy.
  • Follow and maintain a structured inspection schedule.
  • Input, retrieve and archive inspection documents.
  • Make minor repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Complete assigned inspections on time.

What you will do :

Entry Level Inspectors are responsible for assisting in conducting routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on Electrical, and life safety product lines as well as similar competitive manufacturers’ product lines.

How you will do it :
  • Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices for the operation of low voltage equipment.

  • Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices such as laptop computers and/or hard copy.

  • Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule.

  • Input, retrieve and archive inspection documents via laptop computer.

  • Make minor repairswith minimal supervision.

  • Complete assigned inspections on time.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for :
Required
  • High School Diploma required.

  • Ability to pass criminal background and valid Class 5 driving record.

  • Accommodate night shifts upon business request.

Preferred
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, program schematics and operational/product manuals.

  • 1+ years of documented experience in low-voltage electrical systems. Fire and /or Life Safety Systems experience preferred.

  • Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.

  • Demonstrates an aptitude for troubleshooting systems and performing necessary repairs.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Proficiency with using PCs including working knowledge of MS Excel / Word as well as iPhone apps.

  • Ability to obtainASTTBC Certification in 12 months

  • Capable of performing physical labour to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 40 lbs.

  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc

  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.

  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.

  • Self-starter that can work with little to no supervision.

  • Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.

  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.

  • Ability to work overtime to meet our customer requirements.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $26-$30 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.)
