Job summary

Johnson Controls Canada is seeking entry level Inspectors to assist with routine inspections, testing and maintenance on electrical and life-safety product lines. You will work with low voltage wiring and devices, document findings, and perform minor repairs with supervision.

Requires a high school diploma, ability to pass a background check, and willingness to work flexible hours including nights/weekends. Competitive benefits are offered from day one, with a hourly pay range of CAD 26–30.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Ability to pass criminal background and valid Class 5 driving record.
• Accommodate night shifts upon business request.
• Preferred experience reading blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications and program schematics.
• 1+ years of documented experience in low-voltage electrical systems.
• Fire and/or Life Safety Systems experience preferred.
• Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
• Proficiency with PCs including MS Excel/Word.
• Ability to obtain ASTTBC Certification in 12 months.
• Capable of performing physical labour up to 40 lbs.
• Able to work in ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet.

What you will do:

Entry Level Inspectors are responsible for assisting in conducting routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on Electrical, and life safety product lines as well as similar competitive manufacturers’ product lines.

How you will do it:

• Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices for the operation of low voltage equipment.
• Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices such as laptop computers and/or hard copy.
• Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule.
• Input, retrieve and archive inspection documents via laptop computer.
• Make minor repairs with minimal supervision.
• Complete assigned inspections on time.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What we are looking for:

• Required High School Diploma required.
• Ability to pass criminal background and valid Class 5 driving record.
• Accommodate night shifts upon business request.
• Preferred Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, program schematics and operational/product manuals.
• 1+ years of documented experience in low-voltage electrical systems.
• Fire and /or Life Safety Systems experience preferred.
• Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
• Demonstrates an aptitude for troubleshooting systems and performing necessary repairs.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Proficiency with using PCs including working knowledge of MS Excel / Word as well as iPhone apps.
• Ability to obtain ASTTBC Certification in 12 months
• Capable of performing physical labour to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 40 lbs.
• Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.
• Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
• Self-starter that can work with little or no supervision.
• Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
• Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
• Ability to work overtime to meet our customer requirements.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $26-$30 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
