Job summary

BGIS in Canada is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician reporting to the Regional Operations Manager to perform code-compliant testing and inspections, assess risks, report findings, and propose solutions for fire prevention in line with NFPA and other regulatory requirements.

The role collaborates with building occupants, facility managers and BGIS departments in an integrated approach to operating buildings. CFAA certification and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Fire Protection or equivalent.
• Completion of CFAA certification.
• Ability to communicate technical and non-technical information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Inspect facilities, ensuring compliance with codes and regulations; create action plans and recommendations for fire life safety compliance.
• Inspect Fire Alarm systems and components as required by regulatory requirements and perform required repairs.
• Analyze causes of fire alarms and trouble calls; follow up with stakeholders to provide solutions.
• Communicate with building occupants and stakeholders to address concerns.
• Provide support with the main client and assist in coordinating evacuation plans.
• Assist property management and stakeholders with fire and life safety support/training.
• Participate in project requirements meetings and take responsibility for areas of expertise.
