Job summary

C.P. Services Ltd in Anzac, Alberta is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and install fire alarm infrastructure and equipment on a rotating 12-hour shift schedule. You will work with teams, document work, and ensure compliance with safety and fire codes.

The ideal candidate holds CFAA registration and NFPA 10 certification, a valid Class 5 license, and can obtain security clearance. Company-paid housing is offered on shift, with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Must hold CFAA registration and NFPA 10 certification.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with clean abstract.
  • Experience with NFPA/ULC codes and safety procedures.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance and pass drug tests.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and maintain fire alarm infrastructure and equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on fire alarm systems.
  • Install and service fire alarm hardware and components.
  • Document inspections, maintenance, and installations clearly.
  • Communicate with supervisors and team to minimize disruptions.
  • Sell and service fire alarm solutions as required.
  • Follow safety guidelines and site procedures.

Job description

Fire Alarm Technician

Location: Anzac, Alberta

Accommodation: Company-paid housing when on shift

Schedule: Compressed12-hour shifts, 7 days on / 7 days off.

NFPA 10 Certification Required

Trade / Scope Specific responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
  • Inspection of existing fire alarm infrastructure, equipment, and related components.
  • Diagnose condition of existing fire alarm infrastructure, equipment, and related components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on existing fire alarm infrastructure, equipment, and related components.
  • Recommend best-fit solutions for existing fire alarm infrastructure, equipment, and related components.
  • Service and repair existing fire alarm infrastructure, equipment, and related components.
  • Sales of new fire alarms and related components.
  • Assembly and installation of new and replacement fire alarm infrastructure, equipment, and related components.
  • Communication of inspections, diagnoses, preventative maintenance, recommendations, construction, service/repair, and installation of fire alarm infrastructure, equipment, and related components.
  • Documentation of inspections, diagnoses, preventative maintenance, recommendations, construction, service/repair, and installation of fire alarm infrastructure, equipment, and related components.
  • Follow safety guidelines, approved processes, and procedures on the job site.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members to minimize disruptions and maximize productivity.
  • Work cohesively with teams of employees or contractors.
  • Communicate in a polite and courteous manner.
Ideal Qualifications
  • Valid CFAA Registration
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Fire Detection, Special Hazards, and programming addressable fire alarm panels.
  • Strong working knowledge of NFPA, ULC, and applicable Fire Codes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Technologically adept with mobile devices and laptops.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance (background check, pre-employment drug/alcohol testing, references).
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a physically demanding environment.

Applicants must already hold the following certifications to be eligible for this position. If the successful candidate does not already possess these certifications, they will be required to obtain them at their own expense prior to commencing work.

General Certifications Required:
  • Valid CFAA Registration
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License - No more than 6 demerit points
  • Up to date Drivers Abstract
  • NFPA 10 (SAIT or Lakeland College) would be an asset, but not required
