Job summary

People Prodigy Recruitment is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician to inspect, test, and troubleshoot fire and life safety systems across the Lower Mainland. This hands-on role requires following the 2018 BC Fire Code and CAN/ULC/CSA standards, while maintaining clear communication with clients and team members.

The candidate should have strong electrical background, valid BC driver’s license, and be committed to ongoing education and safety best practices.

Qualifications

  • ASTTBC RFPT or CFAA certification is a plus.
  • Valid BC Driver's License (driver's abstract required).
  • Strong electrical/electronics/mechanical background.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Life Safety systems and provide solutions.
  • Detail oriented in fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual Fire Inspections per BC Fire Code and CAN/ULC, NFPA, CSA standards.
  • Repair and troubleshoot Fire and Life Safety Equipment per applicable standards.
  • Accurately complete inspection and deficiency reports and documentation.
  • Participate in after-hours emergency on-call rotation.
  • Maintain communication with internal/external contacts regarding inspections and status.

As a Fire Alarm Technician, you'll be in the field every day — inspecting, testing, and troubleshooting the fire and life safety systems that protect buildings across the Lower Mainland. It's hands-on, technical work with real consequences, and you'll be trusted to make the call on site.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Monthly, Quarterly, Semi, and Annual Fire Inspections as per the 2018 BC Fire Code and all applicable CAN/ULC, NFPA and CSA standards.
  • Conduct Repairs and Troubleshooting of Fire and Life Safety Equipment as per the 2018 BC Fire Code and all applicable CAN/ULC and CSA standards.
  • Accurate and timely completion of all Electronic Inspection and Deficiency Reports and other relevant documentation.
  • Participate in After Hours Emergency On Call Rotation.
  • Maintain open communication with both internal and external contacts on inspections, project delays, and overall status.
  • Commitment to continual education and training in order to deliver next-level service to our valued clients.
  • Commitment to staying up to date with industry standards, product and service changes, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain certification in good standing with ASTTBC and/or CFAA, if applicable.
  • Provide a 'next-level' experience when interacting with customers, suppliers, contractors, and team members.
  • Adhere to and embrace the company's Core Values and Occupational Health and Safety protocols.
  • Additional duties as they may arise.

The ideal candidate would have the following strengths and experience:

  • ASTTBC RFPT or CFAA Certified Technician considered an asset.
  • Valid BC Driver's License (Driver's Abstract required).
  • Strong Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical background.
  • Ability to accurately assess and troubleshoot various Life Safety systems and provide solution-based details.
  • Detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise.
  • Must have excellent English communication skills (verbal and written) and a positive friendly attitude.
