Job summary

C.P. Services Ltd is seeking a field technician to inspect, diagnose and service fire extinguishers and related components across Northern Alberta. This full-time role offers a 7/7, 12-hour shift with camp housing provided and a company truck for work duties.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 3–5 years of related experience, a valid driver’s license, and safety certifications (WHMIS 2025, CSO, First Aid, TDG, H2S Alive). Outdoor work and lifting up to 50 lbs are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED with 3-5 years of related experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s license in good standing
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with strong communication skills
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Requires repetitive lifting, bending, crouching, standing and lifting, up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis, physically demanding outdoor work.
  • Background screening including 3-year driving record and fit-for-work medical clearance

Responsibilities

  • Inspect existing fire extinguishers and related components.
  • Diagnose condition of extinguishers and related components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on extinguishers.
  • Recommend best-fit solutions for extinguishers.
  • Service and repair extinguisher equipment and components.
  • Sales of new and refurbished extinguishers and related components.
  • Assemble and install new and replacement extinguishers.
  • Communicate inspections, diagnoses, maintenance, recommendations, sales and installation.
  • Document inspections, diagnoses, maintenance, recommendations, sales and installation.
  • Follow safety guidelines and procedures on the job site.
  • Communicate with supervisors and crew to minimize disruptions and maximize productivity.
  • Work cohesively with teams of employees or contractors.
  • Communicate in a polite and courteous manner.

Job description

Location – Mobile in Northern Alberta

Employment Type: Full Time

Shift Schedule - 7/7 - 12 hours per day

Camp Accommodations - Housing Provided - meals not included

Travel: Travel to work at own Expense with own car - Company Truck Provided for Work Duties

NFPA 10 Certification Required

Responsibilities:
Trade / Scope Specific Responsibilities

Including, but not limited to:

  1. Inspection of existing fire extinguishers and related components.

  11. Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members to minimize disruptions and maximize productivity.
  12. Work cohesively with teams of employees or contractors.
  13. Communicate in a polite and courteous manner.
Who you are:

  • Requires repetitive lifting, bending, crouching, standing and lifting, up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis, physically demanding outdoor work.
  • You will be required to undergo various background screening that includes but is not limited to 3year driving record, andfit-for-workmedical clearance.
Working Conditions:
  • Work requires frequent exposure to adverse weather conditions and the requirement to wear protective equipment, including donning an SCBA regularly.

Please note the successful candidate will be required to pass a Drug and Alcohol Test, Fit For Work Exam, Respiratory Fitness Test, Mask Fit Test, provided by C.P. Services.

Applicants must already hold the following certifications to be eligible for this position. If the successful candidate does not already possess these certifications, they will be required to obtain them at their own expense prior to commencing work.

General Certifications Required:
  1. Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  2. Valid Clean Drivers Abstract
  3. Ability to meet all specific site access requirements
