Job summary

Levitt-Safety Limited in Fort McMurray, AB is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician to inspect, test, and repair fire alarm systems and ensure compliance with NFPA/ULC codes. You will verify installations, perform maintenance, and coordinate with project teams in a dynamic field environment.

The role requires 2+ years in fire alarm systems and a CFAA Registration or Journeyman Electrician with relevant experience. You will participate in after-hours rotations and support safety initiatives on site.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in fire alarm systems and addressable panels.
• Valid CFAA Registration or Journeyman Electrician with fire alarm experience.
• Working knowledge of NFPA, ULC, and fire codes.
• Ability to obtain required site clearances (background check, drug & alcohol testing, references).

• Verify and commission newly installed fire alarm systems; complete verification reports and program addressable systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on fire alarm, suppression, and emergency lighting systems.
• Maintain accurate records per Levitt ISO standards.
• Coordinate subcontractors and support project execution with design and project management teams.
• Participate in after-hours and on-call rotation.
• Contribute to Health & Safety initiatives (JHAs, Safe Work Practices).
• Represent Levitt-Safety professionally on-site and support customer safety needs.

Main Responsibilities:

• Inspect, test, maintain, and repair fire alarm systems in accordance with CAN/ULC-S536 and applicable fire codes; document deficiencies and corrective actions.
• Verify and commission newly installed fire alarm systems (including associated panels); complete verification reports and program addressable systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on fire alarm, fire suppression, and emergency lighting systems.
• Maintain accurate, code-compliant records of inspections, testing, impairments, and repairs in line with Levitt ISO standards.
• Coordinate subcontractors and support project execution in collaboration with design and project management teams.
• Participate in after-hours and on-call rotation as required.
• Contribute to Health & Safety initiatives, including JHAs and Safe Work Practices.
• Represent Levitt-Safety professionally on-site, supporting customer safety needs.

Ideal Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in fire alarm systems, special hazards, and addressable panel programming.
• Valid CFAA Registration (required) or Journeyman Electrician with strong fire alarm experience.
• Working knowledge of applicable NFPA, ULC, and fire codes.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Comfortable using mobile devices and laptops in the field.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
• Ability to obtain required site clearances (background check, drug & alcohol testing, references).
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing hands-on technical work.
