Whissell seeks a skilled heavy equipment operator to join our earthworks projects in Alberta. Experience running dozers, graders, excavators and rock trucks is required, with a strong focus on safety and accuracy.

The role is seasonal, with weekend work and potential for full-time opportunities. Applicants must have own transport and steel-toed boots, and be prepared for field conditions at job sites in Leduc, AB.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate dozers safely for rough grading, excavation, stripping, backfilling and site prep.
• Read grade stakes, plans and site instructions to hit elevations and slopes.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance to keep equipment safe.
• Grade, level and push materials to maintain curves and slopes.
• Coordinate with foremen, survey crews and other operators to meet production schedules.
• Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean, safe work environment.

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated operators to be a part of our earthworks projects. We are looking for heavy equipment operators who have experience running Excavators, Rock Truck, Packer, Grader, and Dozers. We are looking for accuracy, diligence, and a strong dedication to safety are necessary for this position

Key Responsibilities

• Operate dozers safely and efficiently to perform rough and fine grading, excavation, stripping, backfilling, and site preparation.
• Read and interpret grade stakes, plans, and site instructions to achieve required elevations, slopes, and grades.
• Perform daily equipment inspections, basic maintenance, and housekeeping to ensure the dozer remains safe and operational.
• Grading, leveling, and pushing materials to generate and maintain desired curves and slopes.
• Experience of 2-3 or more years of running a dozer.
• Strong understanding of dozer operation, grading techniques, and safety procedures.
• Work closely withForemen, Superintendents, survey crews, and other operators to coordinate production and maintain project schedules.
• Follow allcompany safety policies, procedures, and site requirements while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

• Ensure compliance with all Company policies, OH & S Legislation, and WCB reporting procedures.
• Understand and maintain quality and production standards and work to achieve established production goals.
• Physically able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs safely and repeatedly as required in the construction environment.
• Must have your own transportation.
• Must have your own steel-toed safety boots.
