Job summary

Sublatus Inc. is seeking a Dozer Operator to support reclamation, remediation, civil earthworks, and site preparation projects across Western Canada. The role focuses on safe, efficient operation of dozers, with cross-operation of excavators, loaders, and graders as needed to shape final landforms.

Your work will influence production efficiency, environmental compliance, and the quality of restored landforms while meeting project schedules and safety standards in dynamic field environments.

Qualifications

• 5,000+ hours of heavy equipment operating experience, with significant time on dozers.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to recognize abnormal equipment performance.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
• Demonstrated ability to follow procedures and maintain disciplined operation of equipment and systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate dozers as the primary machine for stripping, spreading, contouring, and final grade on site preparation, remediation, and reclamation work, and cross-operate excavators, loaders, and graders as required.
• Meet daily production expectations while maintaining accuracy, environmental controls, and safe work practices.
• Push, spread, and place soil and fill; manage material flow and stockpiles efficiently.
• Interpret grade stakes, drawings, and off-site survey data to achieve accurate site grading and restoration.

The Role (What You Will Do & Why It Matters)

As a Dozer Operator, you are responsible for the safe, efficient, and precise operation of dozers on reclamation, remediation, civil earthworks, and site preparation projects. You will run a dozer as your primary machine, holding grade and shaping final landforms, and you will cross-operate other heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, and graders as project needs require. Your work directly influences production efficiency, environmental compliance, and the quality of restored landforms.

Success in This Role Looks Like

• Safe and incident-free dozer operation in all ground and weather conditions.
• Precise finish grading and contouring that meet survey, drainage, and environmental requirements.
• Consistent identification and control of field hazards, including slopes and soft ground.
• Reliable equipment operation, daily care, and clear communication with supervision.
• Strong teamwork and professional conduct in all client and public interactions.

Responsibilities

Environmental Remediation & Reclamation Execution

• Segregate soils with minimal mixing to maintain environmental compliance.
• Support remediation earthworks while preventing cross-contamination of impacted materials.
• Perform reclamation work to re-establish natural contours, drainage patterns, and site stability.
• Apply proper sloping, stepping, and grading techniques to maintain safe working faces and material separation.
• Participate in all safety programs, toolbox talks, and hazard assessments.
• Identify and control hazards in dynamic field environments.
• Follow safe work procedures for dozer operation, excavation support, slopes, and soft ground conditions.
• Promote public safety and adhere to all regulatory and client-specific safety requirements.

Equipment Care, Inspections & Reporting

• Perform thorough pre-operational inspections and complete start-up and shutdown procedures.
• Monitor gauges, fluid levels, and equipment performance throughout operations.
• Clean and maintain equipment as scheduled or required.
• Report mechanical issues, deficiencies, or required repairs promptly to the General Superintendent or designated supervisor.

Teamwork & Communication

• Work independently with minimal supervision, while proactively seeking clarification when required.
• Maintain strong interpersonal communication and cooperate with crew members and leadership.
• Represent Sublatus professionally with clients, subcontractors, and the public.
• Adapt to changing work conditions and support additional tasks as required.

• Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
• Demonstrated ability to follow procedures and maintain disciplined operation of equipment and systems.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Due to the safety-sensitive nature of Sublatus projects, all employees must maintain the following:

• Clean criminal record check.
• Negative alcohol and drug test.
• Fitness-for-duty testing (50 lb capability).
• Consent to participate in all required testing and monitoring programs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in environmental remediation and reclamation (soil handling, restoration grading).
• Experience on demolition, decommissioning, mining, oil & gas, or industrial sites.
• GPS and machine control grade experience as asset.
• Ability to anticipate hazards and adapt to changing field conditions.

Working Conditions

• Full-time, hourly position.
• Travel required across Western Canada.
• Extended hours and weekend work based on project needs.
• Safety-sensitive role with ongoing testing and compliance requirements.
