Job summary

Whissell is seeking highly skilled operators for earthworks projects in St. Albert. The role requires operating excavators and other heavy equipment with a strong emphasis on accuracy and safety.

Experience in earthwork construction is required, and applicants must have high attention to detail, own transportation, and steel-toes boots. This seasonal/full-time position includes weekends and competitive compensation with benefits.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators safely and efficiently for bulk excavation, trenching, stripping, loading, backfilling, and site preparation on civil earthworks projects.
• Perform finish grading and detailed excavation to achieve required elevations, slopes, grades, and tolerances according to plans and survey requirements.
• Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, GPS/machine control systems, and survey information to ensure accurate excavation and grading.
• Complete daily equipment inspections, basic maintenance, and housekeeping, reporting any deficiencies or mechanical issues promptly.
• Work closely with Foremen, Superintendents, survey crews, and other equipment operators while following company safety policies, procedures, and Alberta OH&S requirements.
