Job description

Why? Because our time is limited, our competition is fierce, and our margin for error is small. For us to have the greatest impact on the world, we need to be laser focused on our core mission, which is...

Empowering people to be creative.

That’s why Knak exists.

We are a world-class enterprise email and landing page creation platform with a focus on making successful and happy customers by providing them with an incredibly powerful, yet easy to use creation platform.

Our industry leading SaaS solution is built by Marketers, for Marketers. We know that it’s the small things that make the biggest impact and that emails and landing pages are where the rubber hits the road when it comes to Marketing Automation. We change the way Marketers work by making them more efficient, while improving conversion rate of their campaigns and helping them stay on brand.

Oh, and we have a bit of fun while doing it, too!

Knak is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill a hybrid role combining the critical functions of Controller and Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). This unique opportunity requires a strategic and detail-oriented leader with a strong understanding of both accounting principles and financial planning methodologies. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the company's financial accounting and reporting functions while also driving the budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes to support strategic decision-making. This role reports directly to the Senior Director of Finance and will be a key contributor to the company's financial health and growth.

Responsibilities:

Manager of FP&A Functions (approximately 50% of time):

Budgeting, Forecasting and Business Analysis

  1. Supporting the development of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
  2. Build and maintain complex financial models to support business planning, forecasting, and strategic initiatives.
  3. Analyze financial and operational results, identify key trends, variances, and underlying drivers, and provide insightful commentary.
  4. Prepare and present timely and accurate financial reports and presentations to senior management and stakeholders.
  5. Prepare insightful management reports and presentations to communicate financial results and key findings to senior leadership.

Compliance Functions

  1. Review of the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  2. Co-manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including the preparation of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement).
  3. Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (ASPE) and regulatory requirements.
  4. Manage relationships with external auditors and support the annual audit process.
  5. Work alongside the Accounting Manager to review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.

Treasury

  1. Lead and oversee the comprehensive Treasury function, encompassing the development and execution of short-term hedging strategies to mitigate foreign exchange risk.
  2. Proactively manage short-term liquidity, identifying opportunities to invest excess cash and enhance interest earnings.

Other:

  1. Participate in the selection and implementation process for new business systems, providing accounting and financial expertise.
  2. Work with external tax consultants to prepare/file income tax returns.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) is preferred.
  2. Five years of progressive experience working within a finance team with increasing levels of responsibility.
  3. Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting concepts, and financial statement analysis.
  4. Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting techniques.
  5. Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets (including complex formulas, pivot tables, and macros).
  6. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with a strong attention to detail.
  7. Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial audiences.
  8. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in SaaS.
  2. Experience working with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
  3. Knowledge of SQL and Snowflake is a plus.
  4. Knowledge or experience in working with Salesforce.
