Job description

Environmental 360 Solutions is a vertically integrated provider of waste management, environmental, recycling, and circular economy services to over 750,000 Canadian municipal, commercial, and industrial customers. E360S is based in Aurora, Ontario, Canada, and operates throughout Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical FP&A Analyst to join our finance team based in Aurora, Ontario. This role's primary focus is the in-depth analysis of the company's financial statements to provide actionable insights that support strategic decision-making, financial planning, and performance monitoring. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to translate complex financial data into clear business narratives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Statement Analysis: Conduct thorough reviews of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Analyze trends in revenue, cost of sales, operating expenses, capital expenditures, and working capital.
  • Variance Analysis: Prepare detailed variance analysis comparing actual financial results against budget, forecast, and prior periods. Investigate discrepancies and provide insightful commentary on key drivers.
  • Reporting: Develop and prepare clear, concise financial reports and presentations for management, highlighting key findings, trends, risks, and opportunities derived from financial statement analysis.
  • Forecasting & Budgeting Support: Utilize historical trends and insights gained from statement analysis to contribute to the development of accurate financial forecasts and budgets.
  • Business Insights: Translate financial statement analysis into meaningful business insights, communicating findings effectively to finance leadership and relevant operational teams.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial statement analysis processes and reporting.
  • Ad-hoc Analysis: Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and modeling as required to support business initiatives and decision-making.
  • Data Integrity: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the financial data used for analysis.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience in FP&A, corporate finance, accounting, investment banking or a similar analytical role with a strong emphasis on financial statement analysis.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles.
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas, data manipulation) and Microsoft PowerPoint. Experience building basic financial models is essential.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems including Sage 300, SEI, PowerBI or similar platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pursuit of or completion of a professional designation (CPA, CFA).
  • Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Experience with Planning/Budgeting software.
  • Ability to speak and understand French is an asset.
