We’re looking for an in-office Controller for a downtown based client.

Responsibilities:
- Oversees daily financial operations, including accounting activities, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Prepares financial reports for leadership and stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Manages budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, collaborating with department leads.
- Oversees tax compliance in filings, T4, GST, and non-profit rebates.
- Maintains financial controls, monitors cash flow, and oversees credit management.
- Supports grant financial reporting, compliance, and funding-related analysis.
- Coordinates external audits and ensures financial best practices.
- Leads technology-driven process improvements and automation.
- Develops and mentors finance team members, fostering a culture of growth.
- Supports financial aspects of organizational change and strategic initiatives.
The successful candidate has:
- A degree in business/finance with CPA designation is mandatory.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive full cycle accounting experience with 5+ years of finance experience at Controller level of Canadian experience is a must.
- Experience in a non-profit organization with an understanding of regulated funding.
- Strong critical thinking skills, able to troubleshoot and experienced with audits and working with auditors.
- Strong technical skills in financial reporting and complex financial analysis.
- The ability to 'create, build and own' the finance function.
- Ability and interest in working on both transactional and high-level finance functions.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Must be able to wear many hats and shift gears quickly as priorities change.
- Excellent computer skills including Power User Excel abilities is a must; familiarity with QuickBooks software is an asset.
- Experience with system implementation is a must.
- Strong communication skills, high attention to detail, and a passion for accounting and able to present financial information and mentor others.
- Commitment to delivering excellence and continuous process improvement in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
- Able to work in the office in downtown Edmonton.
Compensation and benefits:
- The discussed salary range is $95,000 - $120,000 depending on experience.
