The Team

Nanometrics is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Financial Controller to join our finance team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Financial Controller has an important customer centric role within the finance function at Nanometrics. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting while aligning with the company’s business goals and objectives. The Financial Controller will be responsible for comprehensive balance sheet management, including cash flow, compliance, tax, audit, and internal controls. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of technical expertise, management experience, and strategic vision.

The Role

Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with regulatory and company standards

Prepare consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports

Audit and Compliance :

Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring all financial practices comply with statutory regulations and company policies

Manage tax compliance, including preparation and filing of tax returns and liaising with tax authorities

Balance Sheet Management :

Oversee balance sheet integrity, including cash management, forecasting, and analysis

Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and enhance financial integrity

Process Improvement :

Identify and adopt best practices to streamline and automate financial processes

Increase productivity and efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives

Strategic Leadership :

Support the Director of Finance in strategic planning and execution

Provide insightful financial analysis to guide business decisions and support company objectives

What You Bring

7+ years of experience in financial management, reporting, and compliance

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. CPA preferred

Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP / IFRS / ASPE

Proven experience in managing audits and implementing robust internal controls

Proficiency with financial software and advanced Excel skills

Demonstrated ability to automate and optimize financial processes

Excellent leadership and team management skills

Prior experience with ERP transformations

Assets

Experience with SR&ED

Budgeting / Forecasting

Google Workspace

Knowledge of ERP systems such as Netsuite or SAP S / 4Hana
