Stevenson & White, Ottawa-based, seeks a hands-on Financial Controller to join our management team on a full-time basis. You will oversee day-to-day accounting, the full-cycle close, and drive process improvements for robust financial reporting.

The ideal candidate is a CPA with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including multi-entity reporting and ERP systems. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement, generous benefits, and career growth.

Qualifications

• CPA designation in good standing.
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience including close, reporting, and payroll.
• Experience with multi-entity financial reporting and consolidation is an asset.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
• Must hold or be eligible to obtain Secret-level security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own the full-cycle accounting close process (month/quarter/year-end).
• Prepare and review consolidated financial statements and manage external audits and tax compliance.
• Lead day-to-day accounting operations (AP/AR/GL/reconciliations/payroll).
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and government reporting.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting, efficiency, and controls.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.

To support its continued scale and market growth, they are seeking a hands-on, solutions-oriented Financial Controller to join their management team on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Controller will oversee the entire day-to-day accounting operations, manage full-cycle close procedures, and drive corporate process improvements. The ideal candidate is an agile leader well-versed in the reporting requirements of publicly traded environments, skilled at managing competing priorities and dedicated to building high-performing teams.

Main responsibilities:

• Own the full-cycle accounting close process, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements
• Prepare and review consolidated financial statements and manage external audits and tax compliance requirements
• Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, reconciliations, and payroll
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and government reporting and remittance requirements
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting, operational efficiency, and internal controls
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement

Qualifications:

The main qualifications for this role include:

• CPA designation in good standing
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including statement preparation, payroll, internal financial reporting and financial analysis
• Prior controller-level or management level experience is preferred
• Experience with multi-entity financial reporting, consolidation and intercompany accounting is an asset
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with ERP systems – advanced proficiency in Excel
• Must hold or be eligible to obtain Secret-level security clearance
