Job summary

Kibbi Technologies Inc. in Ottawa is seeking a Financial Controller to lead all accounting operations. You will report to the Head of Corporate Services and ensure accurate financial data, statements, and internal controls for the construction business.

You will oversee budgeting, cash flow, tax planning, audit coordination, and financial reporting. The role requires CPA, MBA or accounting degree and 5+ years in construction accounting, with Sage 100 experience and strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

Financial Controller Opportunity - Construction Industry - Ottawa (4 days in office | 1 day work from home)

Compensation: $110,000-$125,000 + total compensation package

About the Role:

The Controller reports to the Head of Corporate Services and is responsible for planning, executing, and coordinating all accounting operations functions for the company.

Responsibilities:

• Organize, direct, control, and evaluate accounting operations for the company.
• Accumulating and consolidating all financial data necessary for an accurate.
• Perform accounting of consolidated business results.
• Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements.
• Coordinate activities of financial external auditors.
• Develop and implement the financial policies, systems, and procedures of an establishment.
• Develop financial strategy, including risk minimization plans and opportunity. Regularly participate and contribute to the development and support of the company’s strategic plans.
• Oversee high-level financial reporting and analysis and cash flow management.
• Establish profitability standards for all activities throughout the company.
• Improve efficiencies and reduce costs across the business.
• Notify and report to Senior Management concerning any trends that are critical to the organization’s financial performance.
• Managing the budget process.
• Organize, train, and supervise all new employees in the financial/accounting department.
• Assess current accounting operations and offer recommendations for the improvement and implementation of new processes.
• Evaluate and execute accounting and internal control systems.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database as needed.
• Forecast future financial performance.
• Develop and monitor business performance metrics.
• Oversee regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance.
• Manage finances and accounting for external companies owned and managed by TPH owners, including quarterly government remittances.
• Prepare monthly and annual operating budgets.
• Assist with company payroll on an as needed basis. Calculate and maintain annual and weekly source deductions.
• Manage monthly government remittances.
• Audit and verify data entry of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Monthly progress billing.
• Continuously review areas to implement cost savings.
• Discrete, professional, and confidential with information and situations.
• Other directives as requested by management.

What You’ll Bring:

• CPA, MBA, or Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry
• Knowledge and understanding of all accounting practices
• Experience with Sage 100 is an asset
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
