Title: Financial Controller
Location: Montreal, Canada
Duration: 6-month contract with potential extension
Compensation: CA$100,000-CA$130,000 plus signing bonus and perks
Method of Interview: Video call with HR, in-person with the director of Finance. Conditional offer pending references and security check.
Minimum Requirements:
- Ideally Avionics, or defense and military experience / knowledge
- Must be bilingual
- Must be a Canadian citizen
- Must have a Canadian CPA
What You Will Do
- Manage month end, quarter end and year end management accounting process delivering reports in an accurate and timely manner that are insightful to drive effective decisions;
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff;
- Review of monthly contract accounting ensuring a high level of project accuracy and compliance with revenue recognition policies;
- Cash management - responsible for treasury functions of the business, including sufficient funds available and control oversight of bank accounts;
- Lead preparation of internal and external audit fieldwork and schedules;
- Improve financial reporting processes;
- Review and improve internal controls and SOX compliance, partner with internal audit and corporate accounting to ensure compliance;
- Review of balance sheet and P&L reconciliation(s) to meet reporting requirements;
- Review the R&D Tax claim process ensure timely submission, working closely with external accountants and SLT;
- Provide essential support to the team's daily operations, facilitating a seamless workflow and efficient practices;
- Lead and manage ad-hoc projects, demonstrating flexibility and a capacity to drive change;
- Champion the enhancement of finance processes and tools, including the introduction of automation to increase efficiency and accuracy;
- Foster the development and maintenance of robust financial controls to secure the company's assets and ensure financial integrity.
Required Skills And Experiences
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance/accounting;
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience;
- Hold the CPA accounting designation;
- Ability to lead and mentor accounting team;
- Requires strong analytical and problem solving ability;
- Strong knowledge of Balance Sheet and Income Statement;
- Manage and perform multiple tasks;
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written English & French proficiency;
- Prior experience using Oracle SmartView, an asset;
- Prior Aerospace and Defence industry experience.
Skills And Certifications
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2;
- Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
