Job Description

Primary Purpose: The Financial Controller is responsible for all accounting and financial duties, tasks, and processes required to support the needs and efforts of all the company's current and future operations.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Act as a primary contact for the finance department.
  2. Develop, monitor, and interpret key performance and operating metrics and trends; effectively communicate key business insights to the executive management team.
  3. Liaise with management, staff, and external service providers as necessary to ensure the completion of all finance department tasks.
  4. Prepare month-end and year-end financial statements for The Client Technologies and related companies.
  5. Prepare and/or review month-end closing activities including balance sheet reconciliations and department cost allocations.
  6. Take the lead on all financial audits conducted by third parties.
  7. Provide detailed monthly analysis and reporting of inventory and work closely with the Plant Controller to ensure accuracy of job costing within the production division.
  8. Meet regularly with the CFO and CEO to keep them informed of significant company issues, opportunities, and developments.
  9. Assist the CFO with budgeting and forecasting processes.
  10. Serve as a point of escalation for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Collection issues.
  11. Oversee cash management, approve payables, and execute cheque signing.
  12. Oversee tax filings.
  13. Continuously seek opportunities for financial and operational improvements while fostering a culture of performance improvement across the company.
  14. Mentor and develop the Finance team, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and team dynamics.

Supervisory Responsibility: Finance Department

Education and Work Experience: University degree in Accounting or Business Administration required. CPA designation is an asset. Minimum of 5 years of related finance and accounting experience, including management responsibilities.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to company policies.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office environment, requiring operation of standard office equipment, walking short distances, and spending most of the time at a computer. Some stairs may be involved. Moderate stress levels related to data analysis, deadlines, and supervision.
