Corporate Controller

Company: Flow Beverages

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

About Flow Beverages

At Flow Beverages, we’re on a mission to provide mindful hydration for a healthier, more sustainable world. We believe that the water we drink should be of the highest quality, sourced responsibly, and packaged with the planet in mind. As a certified B Corp, we are committed to using our business as a force for good, balancing purpose and profit in every decision we make. Our team is passionate, innovative, and dedicated to building a brand that makes a positive impact.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a technically superior and results-driven Corporate Controller to lead our accounting operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be a key pillar of the finance leadership team, responsible for ensuring the integrity of our financial systems, the accuracy of our reporting, and the efficiency of our accounting processes across a multi-entity environment.

This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a strategic thinker who excels in the complexities of a CPG manufacturing environment and can navigate the nuances of a business undergoing strategic evolution. You will not only own the day-to-day accounting functions but also serve as a key business partner to Operations, driving process improvements and providing critical financial insights that will shape the future of our company.

What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting Operations & Multi-Entity Consolidation:

  • Own and manage the full-cycle accounting process for our Canadian and US entities, ensuring precise and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and present accurate consolidated financial statements and accompanying notes in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), expertly managing all aspects of multi-currency translation and consolidation.
  • Oversee all operational accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash flow management.
  • Act as the key liaison for the annual external audit, preparing all necessary schedules and documentation to ensure an efficient and successful engagement.

2. Internal Controls, Systems & Process Improvement:

  • Leverage superior technical skills to design, implement, and maintain a robust framework of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
  • Take ownership of the financial systems landscape, with expert-level proficiency in Xero and advanced ERP capabilities, to ensure financial information is both accurate and accessible.
  • Proactively identify and lead initiatives for business process improvement and automation, driving efficiencies and scalability within the accounting function.

3. Cost Accounting & Business Partnership:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance the standard costing system to ensure accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and margin analysis.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of manufacturing variances and partner directly with plant and supply chain leadership to identify root causes, drive cost savings, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Oversee all aspects of inventory accounting, including the coordination of physical counts, valuation, and the analysis of excess and obsolete inventory reserves.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, precision, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with the CFO and senior leadership to model financial scenarios and provide data-driven insights to support key strategic decisions, including potential M&A or divestiture activities.

Who You Are: Qualifications & Attributes

  • Professional Designation: CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 4 years in a senior role (e.g., Controller, Assistant Controller) within a manufacturing organization.
  • Technical Expertise (Non-Negotiable):
    • Expert-level knowledge of IFRS with hands-on experience in a corporate reporting environment.
    • Demonstrated experience managing accounting and consolidations for multi-entity operations across Canada and the US.
    • Proven proficiency with multi-currency financial statement consolidations.
    • Superior technical skills and demonstrable expertise with accounting systems; experience with Xero is a significant asset.
  • Industry Background: Experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), food & beverage, or a related sector is essential.
  • Leadership Style: A hands-on, detail-oriented leader who can balance high-level strategy with flawless execution. You are adept at mentoring teams and inspiring high performance in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability & Growth Mindset: You are a proactive problem-solver who thrives in dynamic situations and is comfortable navigating business model transformations.
  • Cultural Fit: A genuine passion for sustainability and wellness that aligns with Flow's core mission.

Why Join Flow?

  • Make an Impact: Play a critical leadership role in a high-growth company that is changing the face of the beverage industry.
  • Purpose-Driven Work: Be part of a certified B Corp that is committed to positive social and environmental change.
  • Growth & Development: Join a collaborative and supportive team with opportunities for professional advancement.
  • Competitive Rewards: We offer a competitive salary, bonus, and benefits package.
