Job summary

Sobeys is seeking a Financial Analyst, Operations to support finance for the Halifax, NS area. The role focuses on providing financial analysis and decision support to Finance leadership, store operators and franchisees.

You will assist with forecasting, budgeting, and reporting using SAP, Longview and BW, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency and governance.

Qualifications

• University degree in Business with minimum 2 years relevant experience or Diploma with minimum 4 years relevant experience.
• Finance experience in corporate operations is a plus.
• Strong analytical and written/verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of SAP is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderately complex financial analysis across the operations footprint.
• Assist in forecasting, budgeting and targeting processes.
• Prepare/maintain analytical reports in SAP, Longview, BW and communicate results.
• Analyze capital investment opportunities and communicate recommendations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Adhere to GAAP and IFRS and support CEO/CFO certifications.

The Financial Analyst, Operations in Ontario will provide financial analysis and business decision support to the Manager and Director of Finance Operations, the District Operators and Store Operators/Franchisees.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

• Perform moderately complex analysis
• Make suggestions to improve functional area processes
• Assist in forecasting, targeting and budgeting process
• Prepare/maintain analytical reports in various systems (SAP, Longview and BW) and communicate results
• Analyze capital investment opportunities as required
• Perform administrative tasks, as required
• Work with cross-functional groups to identify opportunities to reduce costs
• Adhere to GAAP and IFRS and CEO/CFO Certification
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support evolving business needs and growth initiatives
• Participate in projects as assigned

What you have to Offer:

• University degree in Business and a minimum of 2 years relevant experience or Diploma and a minimum of 4 years relevant experience
• Finance experience in corporate operations is an asset
• Strong analytical and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Knowledge of SAP is an asset
• Proficient use of Microsoft Suite, Advanced Microsoft Excel
• Previous experience working in a Retail environment is an asset
