Bouchier is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Fort McKay team. The role focuses on cost accounting, monthly financial packages, and working with the Controller to improve accounting processes. This office-based position supports budgets, audits, and interdepartmental collaboration.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in analytical accounting, advanced Excel skills, and a degree in business or accounting. Hybrid schedule; local candidates preferred.

Position Summary:

Position: Financial Analyst

Type: Full-time

Location: Head Office – Fort McKay Incubator Park

Schedule: 40 hours per week. Monday to Thursday (Alternating Friday) - Hybrid Working Schedule.

*This is an office-based position in Fort McKay; AB. Preference will be given to candidates local Fort McMurray*

Role Summary:

Reporting to and collaborating closely with the Controller, the Financial Analyst role leads cost accounting duties and ensures the accurate and timely completion of monthly financial packages. With a focus on corporate financial management, responsibilities include reconciling balance sheet accounts, coordinating year-end audits, and contributing to the enhancement of accounting systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and timely completion of monthly financial package assembly, including KPI Reporting.


• Prepare reconciliations for balance sheet and general ledger entries.


• Assist in the coordination of year-end audits.


• Generate monthly accrual entries for revenue, payroll, and payables; review Open Purchase Orders for month-end accruals.


• Provide backup support to the Controller and contribute to the development of new or improved accounting systems and processes.


• Investigate and resolve audit findings and discrepancies in accounts.


• Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets.


• Conduct financial analysis, delving into monthly trends and details.


• Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and actively promote safety processes.


• Handle ad hoc reports and general office duties as required.


• Collaborate internally with Procurement, Commercial, Support Services, and Site teams.


• Engage externally with auditors and consultants as needed.


• Undertake any other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in analytical accounting role.


• Experience with Business Central is an asset.


• Valid Class 5 Drivers License.


• Business/Accounting Degree or Diploma


• Enrollment in CPA courses or working towards a CPA designation is an asset but not required.


• Strong organization and attention to detail and accuracy.


• Problem-solving skills.


• Ability to meet deadlines and a team player.


• Experience in a high-volume environment.


• Good communication skills both written and verbal.


• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.


• Strong attention to detail.


• Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.


• Advanced Excel knowledge and experience.


• Ability to work and interact with people from diverse backgrounds is a must.


• Ability to identify problems/issues and generate new solutions to complex problems.
