Job summary

Enercare Inc. in Markham is seeking a seasoned accounting professional to support month-end close, quarter and year-end deliverables, and internal controls. The role collaborates with finance, operations, and audit teams to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Provide ad-hoc reporting/analysis as required.
  • Identify process improvements for month-end close and reconciliations.
  • Assist auditors with information during interim and year-end audits.
  • Prepare supplementary schedules for financial statements.
  • Collaborate with finance and business teams to improve controls.
  • Ensure SOX compliance and risk-mindedness.
  • Assist in creation and implementation of policies to enhance internal controls.
  • Adapt to changing priorities.
  • Handle project work as required.

Compensation: $59,564 - $95,302

Please note that the compensation range listed includes base salary and potential incentive pay. Incentives such as bonuses are not guaranteed and depend on individual performance and company results. Actual compensation within the range will be determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications.

This individual will be responsible for various accounting functions including month end close, quarter and year-end deliverables, SOX and internal controls, reconciliations, documentation, process improvement, ad-hoc initiatives etc.

This position will interact regularly with individuals in finance, operations, external & internal audit. Specific functions have not been listed as the team operates in a dynamic environment and areas of focus/responsibility will periodically change to ensure individuals remain challenged and understand all aspects of the business.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly journal entries under tight month-end deadlines.
  • Analyze assigned financial accounts on a monthly basis and prepare corresponding account reconciliations.
  • Provide meaningful analysis, in-depth review and sensible commentary on month-over-month financial results on a monthly basis.
  • Ability to work comfortably with large data sets .
  • Provide supplementary & ad-hoc reporting / analysis as required.
  • Identify process improvements for existing month-end close process & reconciliations, execute and deliver the same.
  • Provide required information and explanation to auditors during interim and year-end audit.
  • Prepare selected supplementary schedules and analysis for financial statements.
  • Partner with various individuals within finance and the business to improve control and efficiency.
  • Ensure SOX control compliance, with risk & control mind-set.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of Policy and Procedures to enhance Internal Controls.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Project work as required.
Qualifications:
