Position Summary

The Financial Analyst (Compliance & Inventory) plays a vital hybrid role balancing non-profit governance with the commercial mechanics of a charitable social enterprise that operates primarily in North America but also has sales and licensing revenues from other countries such as India, Spain and Chile.

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance and Accounting, this position splits its focus equally between managing the strict regulatory, grant, and tax compliance profiles of a registered charity in Canada and the USA and overseeing the physical and digital product inventories of JUMP Math’s published mathematics resources to ensure efficient inventory management, forecasting and cash flow management.

This is a full-time role with benefits.

Location of Work

This role must be located in the Greater Toronto area and is intended to be mainly remote but you may be required to attend in person meetings at the JUMP Math offices or other locations in the GTA.

Salary Range

$55,800-$69,800

Key Accountabilities
  1. Compliance, Tax, & Financial Reporting (50%)
  • Monitor monthly and quarterly tax and compliance related matters with specific US states or international reporting requirements to ensure JUMP Math remains in good standing in the jurisdictions in which we operate.
  • Create monthly schedules of tasks for the organization to implement to ensure compliance requirements are fulfilled, and work with colleagues across the organization to ensure reporting is submitted on schedule.
  • Investigate and recommend external compliance vendors and services to assist with the organization’s reporting and tax filings and remittances.
  • Charitable Tax & Compliance: Assist with the coordination of accounting records to support the completion of the annual Registered Charity Information Return (T3010) and maintain absolute alignment with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations.
  • HST Administration & Rebates: Process monthly and quarterly Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) returns and accurately calculate public service bodies' (PSB) tax rebates.
  • Fund & Ledger Reconciliations: Monitor financial movements across the general ledger, strictly separating restricted donor/grant funds from unrestricted social enterprise publishing revenue streams, and provide updated restricted grants financial reports for the development and program teams for donor reporting.
  • System Integration: Maintain daily and monthly bookkeeping practices within QuickBooks Online, ensuring continuous, clean data flows from sales funnels captured in Salesforce.
  • Audit Preparation: Develop robust internal controls, maintain pristine audit trails, and prepare working paper files for external year-end financial reviews.
  1. Publishing Inventory Management & Operations (50%)
  • Distributor and Inventory Reconciliation: Reconcile physical publishing titles, print stock variations, and third-party distributor report counts with inventory registers in QuickBooks Online.
  • Cost Accounting & Valuation: Execute calculations for Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), landed production expenses, royalty payouts, and structural inventory obsolescence reserves.
  • Review printing inventory invoices and receipt reports with the Publisher to ensure accurate inventory management, reconciliation and accounts receivables for key print vendors.
  • Salesforce Order Sync: Audit transaction flows and pipeline orders originating from Salesforce to guarantee zero leakage in sales-to-inventory tracking frameworks.
  • Operational Reporting: Package routine performance metrics—such as unit margins, product line profitability, inventory turnover ratios, and stock exception alerts for the Director of Finance and Administration.
Skills
  • Technical skills: MS Excel, basic financial modeling and forecasting, strong grasp of balance sheets, income statements and cash flow dynamics
