Job description

Drive SMARTER decisions with DATA.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Financial Analyst to join our Finance team and help turn data into meaningful insights that drive business decisions.

Reporting to the Manager, Finance, you'll collaborate with internal stakeholders, evaluate financial processes, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen how we manage and optimize our financial operations.

If you're analytical, curious, and passionate about using data to tell a story, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

A Place to Belong

AMA is more than a workplace; it's a family. Together, we help protect the things that matter most to our more than one-million members-everything from roadside safety to retail savings, food security to childhood well-being. And with operations that span automotive, registries, travel, insurance and more, the opportunities to grow with us are almost limitless!

Building on a century of proud service in Alberta communities, we're passionate about making a meaningful difference in the places where we live and work. And that all begins with our people. As part of the AMA team, you'll enjoy:

  • Flexible benefits with 5 different packages to select, ranging from $1000 - $3000 health and wellness spending accounts.
  • Outstanding employer-paid Retirement Savings Plan (5% AMA contribution + 5% AMA matching)
  • Great AMA discounts like 50% off memberships, driver education programs, and registry services.
  • Unlimited learning opportunities, including full Udemy access and dedicated learning time for personal development.
  • Paid time off, including 3 weeks of vacation, Me-Day, and Volunteer Day. Also, the flexibility to purchase 1 or 2 weeks' vacation time spread across multiple pay periods.
Who You Are
  • A strong analytical thinker who enjoys uncovering insights within data.
  • A natural problem-solver who is always looking for better, more efficient ways of doing things.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and accountability.
  • Curious and inquisitive, with a desire to understand the "why" behind the numbers.
  • A collaborative team player who values sharing ideas and working with others.
  • An effective communicator who can translate complex financial concepts into clear insights.
  • Adaptable and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A self-starter who can navigate a complex ever-changing environment.
How You'll Make an Impact
  • Analyze complex financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing actionable insights to support decision‑making for business units.
  • Improve and maintain forecasting models to enhance financial planning and accuracy.
  • Review and provide guidance on technical work completed by accountants.
  • Prepare reports, analysis, and recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Complete month end close requirements and ensure financial statements are published timely.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by enhancing processes, controls, and financial practices.
  • Prepare financial reporting and update disclosures for year end reporting to stakeholders.
