Brandt is currently looking for a Financial Analyst in our Calgary, AB location.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze divisional & departmental monthly / annual financial statements while striving to ensure their accuracy and completion on a timely basis.
- Provide operational level analysis on monthly financials and trends and highlight areas for improvement.
- Reconcile GL accounts and prepare month-end journal entries with supporting documentation.
- Analyze large data sets into meaningful conclusions with recommendations.
- Analyze profit and loss variances to prior performance and budgets.
- Work with different divisions for intercompany processing and reconciliation.
- Assist / prepare working papers required for quarterly and annual reserves & allowances.
- Assist with the preparation of documentation required for the annual external audit.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
- Provide insight into various accounting requirements including CRA requirements.
- Provide advice and guidance on accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, analysis, and reporting.
- Identify internal process gaps and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Other tasks and responsibilities as they arise.
- Assist in continuous process improvement and ad-hoc projects.

Required Experience
- University degree in Business / Accounting, with preference given to those with an advanced degree or professional accounting designation (such as CPA). Consideration will also be given to those currently enrolled or possessing the pre-requisite requirements for the CPA program.
- 2 - 3 years of experience working as a Financial Analyst or Senior Accountant.
- Solid understanding of financial metrics, corporate finance, and accounting.
