About the role
This position will support Housing Communities and Programs portfolio and is responsible for financial month-end and year-end reporting, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, preparing audit files, data analysis to support reporting, assisting with annual budgeting and forecasting. The Financial Accountant will provide backup support to the Finance Manager and will be a mentor to the staff members by assisting in training and development.
What you’ll be doing:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Maintain general ledger and ensure accurate and timely closing of books.
Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Prepare year end audit working papers and notes to the financial statements.
Create and update financial and capital models for strategic and operational decision making.
Support internal controls and process improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights.
Manage and foster strong collaboration with external partners.
Performs other finance duties and support as assigned or required.
What you’ll need:
CPA with Diploma/University degree in accounting/Business.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in financial accounting or a similar role.
Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, practices, procedures, and operations.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
Proven proficiency in MS Office applications, especially in advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros).
Experience with financial audits and government reporting.
Ability to analyze and synthesize data to communicate key high-level messages.
Attention to detail and accuracy is a must.
Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.
Prior experience with integrated financial software such as SAGE.
Prior experience with property management systems such as Arcori.
Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Experience in system implementations, including software rollouts, upgrades, or transitions.
