Job summary

Legal Aid Ontario seeks a Finance Policy Advisor to provide senior-level support for reviewing, developing and implementing the financial management policy framework within LAO's finance department. This role is based at the Toronto Provincial Office with responsibilities across policy research, stakeholder engagement and policy communication.

The ideal candidate has a degree in business, economics or a quantitative field and 3–5 years in financial analysis and policy work, plus strong project

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in business, economics or quantitative discipline.
• Knowledge of financial and accounting theories for public sector.
• 3 to 5 years in financial and quantitative analysis in a large organization.
• Project management principles to manage program delivery.
• Experience in financial management policy analysis and development.
• Analytical skills to produce findings and recommendations.
• Ability to interpret regulations to provide policy advice.

Responsibilities

• Leads financial management policy reviews, revamps, training and communication.
• Participates on cross functional project teams for policy initiatives.
• Performs policy research using legislation, regulations and directives.
• Establishes networks with stakeholders across agencies and ministries.
• Develops relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepares materials (briefing papers, position papers) for senior decisions.
• Keeps up to date with changes in laws, regulations and directives.
• Maintains information on LAO’s intranet site.
